The Full Body Project

Last night, M gave me two gifts.

One was something that’s certainly relevant to this blog: Leonard Nimoy’s The Full Body Project. I’ve wanted this book since it came out in 2007, but just never bought it for myself. If you don’t know what it’s about, check it out here.

This is a very emotional book for me. These women… they look like me. They’re shaped like me. I recognize parts of my body that I don’t particularly like on myself on these women. And on these women, they don’t look so bad. Those things aren’t so scary. These women are confident, and beautiful, and powerful, and happy, and whole.

Kind of like what I want to be.

Nimoy used as models women who are active in the size acceptance movement. Not women who are “traditionally” beautiful. Not women who are perfect. Not women who are airbrushed.

Just… women. :)
